Compensation for refugee accommodation in Slovakia
07.03.2025
The Government of Slovakia has approved a new regulation changing the rules for providing compensation for the accommodation of refugees from Ukraine. These measures aim to reduce the financial burden on the budget and support the integration of refugees into social and labor spheres.
Starting from March 1, 2025, the subsidy for accommodation will be reduced to 60 days instead of the previous 120 days.
Exceptions are provided for socially vulnerable categories, including:
- Recipients of social assistance (v hmotnej núdzi);
- People with severe illnesses and disabilities;
- Citizens over 65 years old;
- Parents and guardians of children under 5 years old;
- Children under 5 years old.
The compensation amount remains the same: €5 per night per person for owners of private apartments and houses; for owners of collective accommodation facilities, the amount is €6 per night per person.
