Sick Leave in Slovakia

18.04.2024
People working in Slovakia may at any time face the need to get sick leave. To get it, you need to contact a general practitioner, get a certificate of incapacity and inform your employer. After recovery, you need to contact a doctor, get a conclusion and present it at work.

Sick leave can be issued electronically. During its validity, you must be at the specified home address and not elsewhere, because the insurance company can check its compliance at any time. The employer does not have the right to fire you while you are on sick leave.

Sick leave payments:
  • 1-3 days: 25% of daily wages
  • 4-10 days: 55% of daily wages
  • Day 11 and beyond: 55% of daily wages
  • The first 10 days are paid by the employer, and from the 11th day - by social insurance.
