Recognition of a Ukrainian diploma in Slovakia

19.04.2025
Every graduate of a Ukrainian school who plans to apply for a bachelor's degree program in Slovakia must submit a document recognizing their school certificate to the university’s admissions office.

This decision is issued by the Regional Office of School Administration (RÚŠS), depending on the applicant’s place of residence. If the applicant does not live in Slovakia, the application can be submitted to the nearest RÚŠS. A Ukrainian school certificate is automatically recognized as equivalent for the purpose of continuing education in Slovakia.

To apply for automatic recognition, you will need:
  • A copy of an identity document;
  • A notarized copy of the certificate with a Slovak translation made by a sworn translator;
  • A receipt confirming payment of the administrative fee.
Important: Do not send original documents—only notarized copies, as submitted materials are not returned.

The application (in Slovak) must include:
  • The applicant’s first and last name;
  • Permanent address;
  • Purpose of the request;
  • Name and address of the school that issued the certificate;
  • Year of graduation;
  • Type of document the certificate is being compared to;
  • Applicant’s signature.
RÚŠS reviews the application within 15 days from the date of submission.
