Child benefit in Slovakia

11.05.2023
Since the beginning of 2023, the monthly child benefit in the Slovak Republic is 60 euros. In the month the child enters first grade, this amount is increased one-time to 110 euros. In this way, the state partially compensates parents for expenses related to education - the purchase of textbooks, stationery, etc.

According to the amendments to the law, the increase in the benefit is not tied to the cost of living. This benefit is paid until the child reaches 25 years of age or until he or she completes his or her studies at a university. Payments are made by the Department of Labor, Family, and Social Affairs in the district where the family lives.

In Slovakia, families with children who are legally in the country can receive financial support from the state. This means that foreign citizens who have received a temporary or permanent residence permit in the SR can apply for benefits.
