Green Card in Slovakia

22.06.2023
The Green Card is an international document that confirms the presence of insurance for the car owner when traveling in other countries. It is an integral part of the international vehicle insurance system and allows cars to move across borders without the need to purchase additional insurance in each individual country.

Slovakia, like most European countries, accepts the Green Card. To enter the SR and travel around its territory using a car, car owners from other countries must have valid insurance from their country of origin and a Green Card issued by an insurance company.

The Green Card contains information about the insurance company and the insurance policy that covers the vehicle. It confirms the existence of insurance coverage and the obligation to compensate for damage caused to third parties in the event of a traffic accident.

To obtain a Green Card, you may need a passport, international passport, vehicle registration certificate, and driver's license. If you plan to use the car for commercial purposes or transport dangerous goods, you may need additional documents. You must fill out a form and pay an insurance premium. When abroad, you can apply for a policy online. In this case, it will be sent to your email address and you can print it out. After applying for a policy online, it comes into effect after 24 hours.
