Living wage in Slovakia

04.07.2024
The subsistence minimum in Slovakia has increased by almost 2% since July 1, 2024. It will be valid until June 30, 2025 and is 273.99 euros, which is 5.11 euros more than the previous one.

The change in the subsistence minimum depends on how much the consumer price index for low-income households has increased over the past year. According to the Statistical Office, this increase was 1.9% from April 2023 to April 2024.

The increase in the subsistence minimum affects almost all residents of the country. Its amount is of decisive importance in determining the non-taxable portion of income, the tax bonus for a child, and the calculation of social benefits.

For foreigners who have a temporary residence permit in the SR, the subsistence minimum is also important. It is the basis for determining the amount of income (or the amount in the bank account) for granting or extending a temporary residence permit in Slovakia.
