Health Insurance for Students in Slovakia
20.07.2025

- the student holds a temporary residence permit for study and is enrolled in full-time education;
- they are under the age of 26;
- they reside in Slovakia with a parent who already has health insurance in the country;
- the student is financially dependent on that parent.
- A certificate confirming the student’s full-time enrollment.
- The student’s birth certificate.
- Proof that the parent is insured with the specific health insurance company in Slovakia.
If the student is in Slovakia without their parents or is over 26, they cannot be included in the public system. In that case, they must obtain private health insurance.
Students who are economically inactive are not entitled to public health insurance — regardless of whether they are in the country alone or with parents — but they still have access to healthcare covered by the state.
