Mentality of Slovaks

16.08.2024
Slovaks have a reputation for being friendly people, ready to offer, help and advise. On the one hand, they have the advantages of the European mentality - politeness and silence, and on the other hand - openness and friendliness, which are absent in many other regions. Slovaks are quite hospitable: they prepare dishes, drinks, entertainment for the most interesting and enjoyable leisure of their guests. Age is a sufficient basis for respect and submission in Slovakia. Rudeness and boorishness towards elderly people are unacceptable.

Favorite activities of Slovaks in their free time:
  • walks in the fresh air;
  • cycling or scooter riding;
  • spending time on sports grounds;
  • meeting with friends.
Slovaks are used to a slow lifestyle. Long queues are the norm. You will have to spend a decent amount of time waiting for a plumber, electrician or for the Internet to be installed. At the same time, residents of SR are quite pedantic when it comes to rules, work and school start times. School doors close at eight in the morning. Public transport usually runs on schedule to the minute.
