Sports Residence Permit in Slovakia

If your child is interested in or already professionally involved in sports, then it is worth thinking about his or her sports future. Sports and a healthy lifestyle are very developed in Slovakia. Representatives of this country increasingly take prize places and cups at world competitions.

The first step to obtaining a sports residence permit in the SR is to select a sports club. After that, the child is tested. In case of successful testing and the consent of the given club to further cooperation, an agreement is concluded between the athlete and the club.

To obtain a sports residence permit in Slovakia, you need to prepare documents, register the athlete, provide two photos, a foreign passport, a certificate of no criminal record with an apostille (from 14 years old) and confirmation of financial security from the bank. The consideration of papers for a residence permit lasts about a month. After a positive decision is made, you must appear at the immigration police.

If an athlete decides to change clubs and sign a new contract, or changes their place of residence, they must notify the immigration police within five working days. They must either send the documents by mail or come in person. Failure to do so may result in a fine.
