Grade Equivalency in Slovakia

30.10.2024
Grade equivalency is a document required by Slovak universities from foreign applicants. The document contains information about the academic level of the applicant in their school. In Slovakia, a grade of 1 is the highest (excellent), and 5 is the lowest (unsatisfactory).

Each faculty of different universities in Slovakia sets its own requirements regarding which academic grades need to be converted into an equivalency. Most often, this concerns a transcript of results for the last 3-4 years of study or an annex to the diploma.

To correctly convert grades according to the requirements of a Slovak university, an application must be submitted to the Ministry of Education of Slovakia. The equivalency is processed within a month. It is more convenient and faster to complete the grade conversion in Slovakia, considering the short timeframe from the issuance of the transcript by the school to the deadline for submitting the equivalency to the university.

The applicant is required to prepare a set of documents strictly in accordance with the specific university's requirements, convert the grades according to the faculty's instructions, and carry out the nostrification of the educational document.
