Increase in Meal Allowances in Slovakia

Starting December 1, 2025, Slovakia will introduce new, higher meal allowance rates for all employees working under an employment contract. This change aims to support workers amid rising prices and ensure proper conditions for meals during the workday.

Updated allowance rates will be:

• €9.30 — for working hours between 5 and 12 hours;
• €13.90 — for working hours between 12 and 18 hours;
• €20.60 — for working hours exceeding 18 hours.

The increased meal allowances will start being paid together with the October salary. As before, the cost is shared between the employer and the employee. The employer’s contribution for a workday of 5 to 12 hours will range from a minimum of €3.84 to a maximum of €5.12 per day.

This adjustment reflects the commitment of the Slovak government and employers to improving social benefits, enhancing workplace comfort, and supporting the quality of life of employees across Slovakia.
