Myths about Slovakia

- Slovakia is a poor country. This is not true. The Slovak Republic is a member of the European Union for a reason. It is a developed industrial and agricultural country.
- Slovaks are blondes. Perhaps with the advent of the fashion for hair coloring the number of blondes here has increased, but the majority of residents are dark-haired.
- The collapse of Czechoslovakia was due to a war between Czechs and Slovaks. There was no war. Politicians simply had different views. The division was organized and agreed upon.
- Slovakia = Slovenia. The names of the countries are similar, but they are two separate states with different languages.
- Slovakia broke away from the Czech nation. They were originally separate states. Even under the conditions of unification, they were two different nationalities with their own language and geographical location.
- Slovakia is a post-Soviet country. Neither Slovakia nor Czechoslovakia were ever officially part of the USSR. They also tried to build communism here and there was a period when the country was formally controlled by the Soviet Union, but SR cannot be called a post-Soviet country.
- Slovak cuisine is similar to Czech and Austrian. Slovaks are very offended by this statement. They believe that their cuisine is very multifaceted and different from their neighbors.
