The main resorts of Slovakia

The Low Tatras are a great choice for alpine skiing enthusiasts. This mountain range, located in the central part of the country, is the second largest mountain system in the country. The slopes of the Low Tatras have more snow than the High Tatras, and you can also go mountaineering and paragliding here.

Novy Smokovec is a resort located at an altitude of one kilometre above sea level. It is known for its picturesque nature, clean mountain air and excellent ski slopes.

Tatranska Lomnica is a resort in the High Tatras at an altitude of 850 meters. It is a well-known place that serves as a starting point for many tourist routes.

Vyšné Ružbachy is a spa resort on the south-eastern slopes of the Spišská Magura mountain range at an altitude of 623 metres. There is a natural spring of weakly mineralised hydrogen carbonate calcium-magnesium water with a temperature of 21°C. There are 14 mineral springs in Vyšné Ružbachy.

Poprad is a famous spa and the main town in the High Tatras. It was founded in the 13th century by a Saxon community and by the 18th century it had become an important trading centre.

Strbske Pleso is the highest resort in the Slovak Republic. It is located on the shore of the lake of the same name. It has the best conditions for skiing and the longest ski season.
