Insurance in Slovakia

Slovakia has insurance-based healthcare, so having health insurance is essential.

There is state and commercial health insurance.

State insurance can be issued to those foreigners who have a residence permit based on employment or individual entrepreneurship. If you have this type of insurance, it also applies to your children. It covers medical expenses related to outpatient treatment, hospitalization, surgical treatment and rehabilitation, and may also partially cover the cost of prescribed medications.

Commercial health insurance is provided by local companies. It is issued upon receipt of a residence permit by students and business owners, as well as family members who have arrived in the SR for reunification. Commercial insurance covers only those expenses that are specified in the terms of the contract. The more insurance cases in the insurance, the higher its price.
