Where to submit documents for extending a residence permit in Slovakia

The extension of a residence permit in Slovakia is handled by the Migration Police. The application must be submitted exclusively to the office responsible for the district of your official residence registration. Please note: even if another branch is geographically closer or more convenient, submitting documents there will result in the application being rejected.

To determine which office is responsible for your address, visit the official website of the Slovak Ministry of the Interior (minv.sk), where you can find a list of all Migration Police departments (cudzinecká polícia) along with the areas they serve.

Documents for extension can be submitted only by prior appointment through the OCP online appointment booking system. Alternatively, if you have a qualified electronic signature, you may submit the application remotely online — in this case, a personal visit to the police office is not required.
