Change of Residence Permit Status in Slovakia

Most often, foreigners in Slovakia change their residence permit status to entrepreneurial. This is possible if they have a sole proprietorship (SP) or a company.

To apply for a change of purpose for a residence permit, it is necessary to provide an application, a photo, a bank statement from the company account, a statement from the SP account, a statement from the personal account, proof of residence in Slovakia. Payment of the state fee, the production of a plastic card, and courier services are required. The Foreign Police reviews the status change within three months. After receiving the residence permit, it is necessary to purchase an insurance policy.

If you decide to change the residence permit status from entrepreneurial to employment-based, you need to consider a few points. The employer must be registered with the Ministry of Labor. The vacancy must be posted on the website for 20 business days. The employer must specifically indicate in the vacancy that they are ready to employ citizens from third countries.

The following documents are required: an application, a paid residence permit card, a paid insurance policy, a passport, a photo, proof of residence in Slovakia, a work contract or a job offer. The work contract must specify the period for which the contract is concluded, the position, the work schedule, and the amount of the monthly salary.
