Traditional Slovak dishes for Easter

There are many festive Easter recipes in Slovakia. They also differ from region to region. Here are some of them:

Painted eggs with intricate designs that symbolize new life and the rebirth of nature.

A creamy egg paste that is often served as an appetizer. It is made from boiled eggs, mayonnaise, mustard, and various herbs and spices. It is spread on bread.

Curd is made from milk and eggs. Greens are often added. Due to the specifics of preparation, a rather dense, pressed mass is obtained. It is served cold.

Easter bread is a sweet yeast bread decorated with intricate braids and patterns. It is usually made on Good Friday and eaten throughout the Easter weekend.

Easter beetroot is canned beetroot that is cooked with horseradish, vinegar and seasonings. There is also a salad version that uses similar ingredients.
