Resignation letter while on sick leave in Slovakia
In Slovakia, an employee has the right to submit a resignation during sick leave (PN). The law does not prohibit an employee from voluntarily terminating their employment during a period of temporary incapacity for work.
It is important to remember that the resignation must be submitted in writing. The document must be officially delivered to the employer — in person, by post, or by another verifiable method.
The notice period begins on the first day of the month following the month in which the employer received the resignation.
The minimum notice period is:
-
1 month — if you have been working for the employer for less than one year;
-
2 months — if the employment relationship has lasted for more than 1 year.
In practice, many employees send their resignation by registered mail with an acknowledgment of receipt. This helps confirm the date on which the employer received the document and avoid possible disputes in the future.
Even during sick leave, it is important to follow the official resignation procedure so that the termination of employment is carried out correctly and without problems for the employee.
