Additional Payments for Work in Slovakia

Overtime: An employee can work no more than 8 hours of overtime per workweek. In one year, no more than 150 hours of overtime. More than 150 hours is only allowed with consent (a maximum of 400 hours per year).
Weekend work: The additional payment for working on Saturdays is set at 50% of the minimum hourly wage, and for working on Sundays – 100% of the minimum hourly wage.
Night work: The allowance for night work is 40% of the minimum hourly wage, and for hazardous work performed by the employee – 50% of the minimum hourly wage.
Holiday work: The surcharge for working on holidays is 100% of the employee’s average earnings.
Vacation: The duration of vacation should be at least 4 weeks. An employee who is 33 years or older is entitled to at least 5 weeks of vacation. Employees under this age who are permanently caring for children are entitled to a 5-week vacation.
